Dismissal Procedures

  • If your child needs to be picked up early or there is a change in the way your child is sent home, written communication needs to be sent that morning to the teacher or office. Otherwise, your child will be sent home their normal way.
  • If you need to pick up your child early, please plan on arriving to the school no later than 2:30 pm. Students will not be released after 2:30 pm from the front office. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
  • Students will only be released to an adult with a valid driver’s license who is either a parent, guardian or designated as an authorized adult on the student's emergency card. This is done as a security measure.
  • If the office does not have written communication by 2:30 pm, no changes will be made to the child’s dismissal.
  • Cooperation in this matter will foster a learning environment with limited disruptions for all children.

Parent Pick Up (PPU)
Policy and Procedures

Sunshine Elementary School's first priority is always the safety of everyone on or near the school campus. We appreciate your patience, as we work together, to move over 150 vehicles safely through the parent pick up and drop off lines.

Please follow ALL Lee County School Board and
Lee County Department of Transportation signage.

Parent Pick Up Tag Requirements:

  • A current PPU tag is required for all students being picked up through the line.
  • A request may be made for up to 3 PPU tags for authorized guardians and multiple students may be listed.
  • If a replacement tag is required, please see the front office for a new PPU tag.
  • Parents will enter the PPU line at the North Gate entrance for student pick up.
  • Please remain in your vehicle at all times.
  • If you do not have your PPU tag during pick up, you will be required to park your vehicle and go to the front office to provide proper identification to ensure you an authorized adult to pick up the student. Once a PPU tag has been issued, you will then be asked to return to the PPU line to pick up your child.
  • If you arrive early to pick up your child, please be mindful that students are unable to be released after 2:30 pm. Please remain in the PPU line until the dismissal process begins at 3:10 pm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
  • Please display your PPU tag on the dashboard, of the passenger side of your vehicle. Keep it there until your child(ren) are loaded into your car. Multiple staff must be able to see/read your tag.
